Founder’s Journey: From the Foot of Gold Mountain to Global Tables

 

Nestled at the foot of Mount Ledang (Gold Mountain) in Jementah, Johor, MASFOOD’s journey is one of resilience, vision, and the golden essence of Malaysia.

Founder Mr. Tee Thye Lok embodies this journey—from helping at local markets in Jementah to earning a mechanical engineering degree at UTM, and finally, taking a bold leap into entrepreneurship in 1998.

With just RM8,000 and a second-hand truck, he founded MASHOO TRADING—a name inspired by the Hokkien phrase “定好” (Ding Ho, meaning “Definitely Will Be Good”). This ethos laid the foundation for MASFOOD, a brand that today is synonymous with authenticity and innovation, delivering Malaysia’s rich flavors worldwide

Key Milestones

 

1998
MASHOO TRADING was established in Melaka.
2000
Business relocated to Kulai, Johor, and began home-based food processing and packaging operations.
2005
Established the first self-owned factory in Taman Putri, Kulai, Johor.
2009
MASBEST FOOD INDUSTRIES SDN BHD officially entered the seasoning paste manufacturing industry.
2011
Opened the second factory, and the sauce production line became profitable.
2024
The third factory was completed, increasing production capacity by 200%.
2025
Launch of Global Expansion 2.0 Strategy.
